Au Cheval, Tribeca

Au Cheval is a great restaurant for a cold winter's night. You head down a dodgy-looking looking alley ("Are you sure this is right?") to find a large, lively, and inviting space, filled with buoyant diners enjoying hearty food and craft cocktails.

We're meat eaters, and Au Cheval's beef-heavy menu delivers. While we didn't get the Steak Frites with Roasted Bone Marrow this time, the Double Cheeseburger with a Fried Egg and Thick-Cut Bacon was hardly a light substitution. The Chopped Wedge Salad we ordered as a starter, with more egg, bacon, and cheese, was either a very bad or a very good decision. Either way, we were happy to have had it.

Ditto the slice of Chocolate Cream Pie we almost skipped. Hey, we split it four ways!
