New! L'Appartement 4F Bakery in the West Village
The first spinoff of Brooklyn Heights' sensational L'Appartement 4F bakery just opened in the West Village. And just as they do at the original, eager customers are lining up for their very French pastries and breads.
Like so many other wonderful bakeries in the city, l'Appartment 4F began during the Covid lockdown. Cobble Hill couple Ashey and Gautier Coiffard began baking and selling breads, pastries, and cookies out of their apartment, #4-F. Word spread, a KickStarter campaign was launched, and long lines of buyers appeared on Montague Street.
Once you've tasted their products you'll understand why. The Raspberry Almond Croissant is a standout - buttery and loaded with raspberry jam and almond cream, but not cloyingly sweet. We're also fans of the slightly savory and salty Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookie. Gautier's background in engineering helped perfect their sourdough starter, so be sure to nab a baguette, too.
All of this deliciousness is served out of a takeout window on West 10th St. It's about a six minute walk from our apartment. That's either a very good thing or a very bad thing. I haven't decided yet.
