Cafe Carmellini in NoMad
Recently we celebrated a big event at Cafe Carmellini, chef Andrew Carmellini's fine dining restaurant in the new 5th Avenue Hotel. It's opulent, it's formal, but somehow it doesn't feel stuffy.
The food is a deft combination of French and Italian. Our favorites: the Crab Mille-Feuille with a bright Meyer lemon sauce, Duck-Duck-Duck Tortellini (generously stuffed with duck confit), coconut curry Scallops Cardoz, and a Sticky Toffee Pudding dramatically flambeed with aged rum
Cafe Carmellini is located in an area of NoMad that was once a sort of commercial no-man's land; but is now filled with restaurants, hotels, and nightlife. It's a worthy addition.
