Downsizing Your Home: A Seminar, Feb. 13, 2024

Downsizing to a smaller home can make a great deal of sense for a variety of reasons, especially as people age. It can also be overwhelming. Where do you start?

Based on both our professional and personal experience, we know there are services and resources that can make downsizing easier, less daunting, and provide a better outcome. We'd like to share that knowledge with you.

On Tuesday Feb. 13, we’re hosting a seminar, Downsizing Your Home, from 6:00-7:30 PM at Compass HQ at 110 5th Ave. (3rd fl.). Our speakers include:

  • Katie Hustead of Paper Moon Moves. Katie is a professional organizer who helps people (especially seniors) move. That includes sorting, selling, donating, managing, and packing their client's cherished belongings, ensuring they have just enough for the next stage of their lives.

  • Lon Epstein of The JunkLuggers, a service that will move out and cart away all that stuff you don’t want or need anymore. We've seen them empty hoarder-level apartments in a day or two; saving us a great deal of time, stress, and effort. The JunkLuggers will repurpose, donate, and recycle as much as possible; minimizing what ends up in a landfill.

  • Alejandro Acosta of Ciro Evangelista Home & Staging. This talented team can make any home more appealing to today’s buyers, so it sells faster and for a higher price (we've seen it for ourselves).

  • Diane Trunececk, Senior Care Consultant with CarePatrol. CarePatrol is a free service that helps seniors and their loved ones find the right senior living solutions in New York. That could be care in the home, independent living, assisted living, memory care, a nursing home, or other options.

There will be time for questions, and to chat one-on-one with our guests. We’ll be serving refreshments, too. Even if this topic doesn't resonate with you today, it might be worth attending for down the road. If you think someone you know might benefit from attending, please feel free to forward them this email.

We'd appreciate it if you'd let us know that you're planning to attend. Please click here to RSVP. Thank you, and we hope to see you there.
